Is adoration of the Virgin Mary acceptable to God?

The bible says that we must not worship any created thing; not idols, not people, not even angels. We must worship God, the Creator.

For example, John was reprimanded for bowing before an angel.

Rev.19,10: And I fell down before his feet to worship him. And he said to me: "Don't do that! I am a fellow-servant with you and with your brethren that hold the testimony of Jesus. Worship God!"

Rev.22,9: And he said to me: "Don't do that! I am a fellow-servant with you and with your brethren, the prophets, and with them that keep the words of this book. Worship God!"

However it is possible to honor a living being. For example, addressing a judge as "Your Honour", the command to "honour your father and mother", and in a marriage ceremony- to love, honour and obey. In this sense we can honour great heroes of the faith, especially Mary who brought the Saviour into the world.
