What does "Amen" mean?Amen is a Hebrew word that first appears in Numbers 5:22, but appears throughout the Bible after that. Although the New Testament was written in Greek, the word amen appears in its Hebrew form there as well, just as it is preserved today. According to Strong's Concordance, it is a means of one person confirming the words of another. In that sense, it is considered to mean, "so be it." The word is frequently tossed about in religious circles without much thought for accurate use of the word, but in general use, it is a way of acknowledging what someone else has said.
