What is a cubit?

Simple answer: A cubit is a unit of measurement. In the Bible, it is considered to be the distance from the elbow to the tip of the longest finger of a man. Not a very precise form of measurment, was it? Many consider a cubit's precise mesurmant to be 18 inches (45.72 cm).

Complicated answer: The cubit was a form of measurement used in many cultures throughout history. As a result, the length of a cubit depended both on when and where you were measuring an object.
