What year was Jesus born?

It is impossible to find a precise date for the birth of Jesus, but there are some factors that help us to provide an approximate time period.

The Death of Herod happening after Jesus' birth tells us that Jesus was born prior to Herod's death, which occured around 4 B.C. The most widely accepted view is that Jesus was born in late 5 B.C. or early 4 B.C. Some scholars believe that Jesus could have been born as early as 12 B.C.

It is held by the western church that the date of Jesus' birth was December 25th, while the Greek Church holds that he was born on January 6th. Yet these dates could merely be the dates on which His birth is celebrated, though the bulk of the members of these churches would contest that these precise dates are accurate.
