Why was Moses chosen to lead the Hebrews out of Egypt?

If you look analytically at the choice of Moses to lead the Hebrews out of Egypt, you might see several qualifications. Most importantly, Moses grew up in Pharaoh's household. He understood what it meant to be Egyptian. He knew how the government worked. He would have also been the most educated Hebrew, since he would have received the best education available, while the Hebrews were enslaved and had very little opportunity.

But God did not choose Moses because of his qualifications. God chose Moses from his birth. God carefully orchestrated his plan to allow the preservation of a baby boy in a reed basket. He ordered Moses' steps so that he was prepared to follow God's will and carry out his plan for deliverance that he promised 400 years earlier. He tested Moses in the wilderness and purified him to make him ready to serve.

The bottom line is that he was chosen by God in his wisdom.

Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable his judgments,
and his paths beyond tracing out!
Who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has been his counselor?
